Radioisotopes in Medicine

چکیده
Nuclear medicine uses radiation to provide diagnostic information about the functioning of a person's specific organs, or to treat them. Diagnostic procedures are now routine.. Radiotherapy can be used to treat some medical conditions, especially cancer, using radiation to weaken or destroy particular targeted cells. Millions of nuclear medicine procedures are performed each year, and demand for radioisotopes is increasing rapidly.

The application of unconventional PET tracers in nuclear medicine
The production and application of PET tracers has been a unique step in the progress of nuclear medicine in last two decades. The most important PET tracers include F-18, C-11 and N-13 radioisotopes and many nuclear medicine centers throughout the globe are using them. However some new tracers are under their way to the mass administration, currently being in th...
متن کاملEstimation and calculation of radiation dose of copper-64 for nuclear medicine usage
Radioactive materials used in nuclear medicine are the radioisotopes or drugs that are identified with radioisotopes. A radiopharmaceutical transfusion is one of diagnostic methods and a radiation value approved should be measured. The nuclear medicine images of diagnostic methods can be made by a gamma camera (γ-camera). In this article, we used MCNPX2.4 for internal dosimetry assessment when ...
متن کاملDual radioisotopes simultaneous SPECT of 99mTc-tetrofosmin and 123I-BMIPP using a semiconductor detector.
Objective(s): The energy resolution of a cadmium-zinc-telluride (CZT) solid-state semiconductor detector is about 5%, and is superior to the resolution of the conventional Anger type detector which is 10%. Also, the window width of the high-energy part and of the low-energy part of a photo peak window can be changed separately. In this study, we used a semiconductor detector and examined the ef...
متن کاملSimultaneous production and quality control of 73Se and 75Se radioisotopes in a 30 MeV cyclotron
Background : Selenium-73 (T 1/2 =7.1h) and Selenium-75 (T 1/2 =119.8d) are useful radioisotopes in many research fields. The wide ranges of applications of these radioisotopes arose great interest for their production. Simultaneous production of 73 Se and 75 Se is more cost-effective and less time-consuming. Materials and Methods : 73 As (p, 3n) 73 Se and 75 As (p,n) 75 Se reactions were determ...
متن کاملCompare charged and uncharged particles leakage of plasma focus for medical radioisotopes production
In this study, to calculate the radioactivity of radioisotopes such as 11C, 15O, 18F and 123,124I in a focus plasma device for the production of medical radioisotopes, the particles of neutrons and protons with cubic targets of Nitrogen, Xenon, Carbon and a solid natural Boron is used. Particles energy are at the input of the program from 1MeV to 10MeV. Also, the total yield coefficient is cons...
